How does Facebook group posting automation work?
You pick the groups, write or approve one post, then start a run or set a schedule. The tool submits the post to each group in turn, with a pause between groups, and records a result for each one. A post waiting for administrator approval is not yet published.
- Import the groups you have joined and tag them into lists with group management. Need more groups? The group finder searches Facebook from Milo.
- Write one post. Spintax or AI variations can give each group its own wording.
- Choose your profile or a Page you manage, then choose the groups where the post is allowed.
- Start the run yourself, or schedule it on Plus or Pro. Nothing posts until you start it or set the schedule.
- Check each group's result. A post can be published, waiting for approval, refused or unclear.
How to post to multiple Facebook groups walks through every method, including doing it by hand.
What is a group auto poster?
A group auto poster publishes one post to many Facebook groups for you, one group after another, so you don't paste it into each group. A good one adds pauses you control, lets each group get its own wording and lets you pick every group. No tool can promise that Facebook or a group's admins will accept a post.
Group Posting is one example. It is free to start on Lite with 5 group-posts a day, Plus (€69 a year) removes that cap, and Pro (€24 a month) adds AI drafting, Milo plans, campaigns and Lead Radar. To weigh up the options, read the group posting tools comparison or see every comparison.
What is a Facebook group scheduler?
A Facebook group scheduler lets you plan posts in advance and have them published to your groups at set times or on a repeating loop, instead of posting live. Group Posting schedules require Chrome open and the computer awake. Plus includes simple schedules; Pro adds campaigns and multi-step flows.
Facebook's own scheduler works only for group admins and moderators. In a group you only belong to, Group Posting Plus or Pro schedules a post from your own Chrome or Edge, one group at a time. Plus and Pro offer one-time, daily and weekly schedules, Pro adds monthly cadences, and the free Lite plan cannot activate a schedule.
Why do these tools run in a browser extension?
Meta retired the public Facebook Groups API, including publish_to_groups, on 22 April 2024, so schedulers built on that API can no longer publish to groups. Browser extensions work from your own signed-in Facebook session instead. Group permissions and Facebook's limits still apply, and Group Posting never asks for your Facebook password.
Group Posting Pro uses that session in two ways. Direct API posting sends authenticated requests to Facebook's internal web GraphQL endpoints. Classic DOM posting fills and submits the visible composer. Neither method uses the retired public Groups API. Buffer's notification publishing is a different route: it reminds you and you finish the post by hand. What the Groups API deprecation broke →
Is automating Facebook group posting safe?
No tool can guarantee that Facebook will accept a post or leave an account unrestricted. Group Posting runs in your own browser with pacing settings, an optional warm-up for new accounts and a night pause, which help you manage how fast and when you post. Review group rules, post relevant content and stop if Facebook shows a restriction.
Group Posting also runs a risk check before a run you start by hand. After a Facebook block it pauses schedules and campaigns for 2 hours, then 6, then 24 if blocks repeat within 7 days. These controls help you manage risk; they do not remove it. Is a Facebook auto poster safe? covers the risks and a review checklist.
What can't group posting automation do?
It cannot make a group accept you, skip a group's rules or administrator approval, or run while your computer is off or asleep. It also cannot promise that a post is published, reaches anyone or sells anything. You still choose the groups and check each result.
- Phones: Group Posting is a desktop Chrome and Edge extension, so it does not run on a phone or tablet.
- Pages: a Page can post only where the group lets Pages participate.
- Unclear results: inspect the group before you retry, because the post may already have gone through.
What is buyer-intent lead detection?
Buyer-intent lead detection watches the groups you're already in for posts where people ask for what you sell, such as "can anyone recommend…?". Group Posting Pro does this with Lead Radar, which flags posts that match your keywords. It checks selected groups at configured 15–60 minute intervals while Chrome is running, so results are periodic rather than instant.
When you open a match and ask for a reply, the AI drafts it in your voice and tells you how relevant the post looks (Looks relevant, Could be relevant, May not be a fit or More context needed) and why. You review each reply, and optional automatic replies are capped at ten a day. Some posts may be missed, so treat it as a helper rather than a full feed.
When should you post by hand instead?
Post by hand when a group needs a message written just for it, when you are answering a specific thread, or when you only post to a few groups. Automation fits repeatable posts to a reviewed list of groups, where the copying and pasting is the real cost.
Automation vs posting by hand sets out the time and the cost. At an illustrative 3 minutes a post, 150 group posts a week is about 7.5 hours of copying and pasting, before any replies.
